Artist Statement: In Painting class, our professors always pushed us to look at any subject abstractly. In terms of Shape, Color and Value. In my process I approach representational subject matter in a very abstract manner. Slowly making sense of the shapes, its value and color. Eventually the abstract shapes become clear and more representational. I don’t follow a strict process nor do I control my medium. Instead I let the medium flow freely and experiment with the very chemicals that make the pigment. I enjoy the play of texture, and use it to compliment the composition As a painter and designer I use my medium as a means to an end. Most of my influence derives from the golden age of illustration and the figurative painters of the 20th century, like Dean Cornwell, N.C Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Harvey Dunn, Sargent and Anders Zorn. Although oil painting is my primary medium, I use a wide range of mediums. From
