Artist Statement: I like to show a moment right before, or right after a human being might have been in a room or place, thereby making the photograph the viewer’s story, where it is up to them to decide what has happened, or what it about to.
I love working at night, typically in places devoid of movement, where geometry and color- especially the colors and lighting you’ll never see during the day- become the focus instead of just another busy city street that we’ve all walked in the later hours. My current project, and my first series since leaving Ringling, is about rooms, and all of the objects that can pass through or be a part of that room. I believe that in many ways, people are defined by what they own or do not and a simple picture of someone’s dwelling can say as much about them as their wrinkles, eyes, or smile.
