Upon first starting my series I was interested in the symbolic intertwining of humans and nature. The idea that we Homo sapiens rely on each other as much as we rely on our surroundings and the cosmos is uncanny yet fascinating. Our daily communication and interaction with others and the natural laws of the universe creates a sense of optimism that reinsures us that we are here and we are in the present. I wanted to represent this image of unity through an entanglement of “webbing” that is connected to all of us and makes us all aware of our significance to one another and the earth itself. I am trying to evoke a loose and individualized sensation to my pieces that borders on the oddity and mystical. The introduction to printmaking has helped my work embrace that self-awakening sensation I’ve felt for my concept all along, and the process of printing alone has the ability to breathe life into the final product.
