Emily Rives
Emily Rives is a Fine Artist who earned her BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2018, and has exhibited around Texas, Florida, New York, Utah, and Belgium. Over the last eight years, she has taught art at studios, public schools and an Art Center, working with ages 4-80 years old. Throughout this time, she has worked extensively as a studio technician, learning the ins and outs of ceramics. She is currently a tech and instructor at the Sarasota Art
Museum.
Rives’ current body of work aims to challenge our position in space while examining what makes a place a home.
Through her ceramics, she is blurring the lines of functionality, decor, and fine art through a seemingly simple question of whether it’s just a difference in semantics; Ceramics versus Pottery versus Sculpture. Can an object define a space?
