Alumni Illustration '93

Jennifer received a B.A. in Illustration from Ringling School of Art and Design.

She now lives and paints in Asheville, North Carolina. The beautiful mountain landscapes with multitudes of trees have ignited a creative spark in her painting process. Jennifer’s artistic expression thrusts us into a world where vibrant color, texture, and shapes collide. With acrylic, brushes, and canvas, inspiring color saturated thought provoking images are created.

I paint because my head is always full of these images, ideas and colors. I love every color and try really hard not to use them all in every painting. I love trees, especially without the leaves because I can really see the structure. I have been painting and drawing animals for 25+ years. Birds are my favorite; they are technically challenging and fun to execute.
Blank canvases and wood panels surround me, a size or shape will call to me. I then see the backgrounds in them, and start layering acrylic paint colors. I often use colors straight out of the tubes, no mixing, it keeps them vibrant and pure. I use water and mediums to create transparent layers. We pick and choose some of the paintings to make prints and the greeting cards. My style varies, but leans to representational going back to a B.A. in Illustration I received from Ringling College of Art and Design.
