John Quigley
Illustration Student '25
My name is John Quigley, and I am a non-traditional student currently enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design. I use mixed media techniques to bring together my love of photography, painting, and the thrill of finding new ways to use overlooked materials.
My background is a bit different than most of my peers. I joined the Army after 9/11, where I served in the infantry with multiple combat deployments working with Special Operations and Marine Regimental Combat Teams. Upon my return from deployment, I worked as a combatives instructor and small arms instructor.
After being honorably discharged, I transitioned to private military contracting where I performed security for government officials, high ranking military officers, and diplomats from around the world. Art has always been part of my life, but I never considered it as a career path, until I was unable to return to military contracting due to an injury.
Ringling College of Art and Design is one of the best art schools in the nation, so naturally I wanted to prepare for my art career here. I am currently in my third year as an Illustration major with an emphasis on Visual Development. Upon graduation, I hope to have a career in storyboarding and concept design for a major studio.
